About Wainwright Building
The Wainwright Building (formerly also the Missouri Insurance Building and Wainwright State Office Building) is an office building at Chestnut and Seventh streets in Downtown St. Louis, Missouri, United States. It was designed by Adler & Sullivan, the architectural partnership of Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan, and built between 1890 and 1892. It was named for brewer Ellis Wainwright, who commissioned the building. Measuring 135 feet (41 m) with ten stories, the Wainwright Building was one of the first early skyscrapers with a facade that indicated its structural function.
